3-Year & 1-Year Well-Checks

Yesterday, I took Diana and Daniel for their 3-year & 1-year well-checks. It was the first time I had them both examined at the same time, so I was a little nervous. To my surprise, Daniel was a calm, happy angel (though he's never been crabby or sad during doctor's visits before, so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised), and even more to my surprise, Diana had a panic attack and crying meltdown the second they asked her to step on the scale. Seriously. I just looked at her and thought, "What in the good heck is happening here??" I had to hand Daniel (who had just got weighed, measured, etc, all with a smile on his face) to the nurse so I could pick Diana up and set her on the scale, crying and freaking out like it was going to eat her. Then, she wouldn't stand up all the way straight so they could take her height, so her height measurements were way off, I'm sure, and she had a major panic attack when they took her pulse & blood pressure, so her numbers were through the roof. And the cried and freaked out when the doctor wanted to examine her...even though I told her for like a week before that the doctor was good and was going to listen to her heart, etc, but wouldn't hurt her. You'd think I'd told her the doctor was going to saw her foot off. I just couldn't understand what had happened. The doctor even gave them a gift of a book each before she started examining them, but that didn't stop Diana from believing they weren't leaving until she was in some sort of pain. Oh, boy. And how was Daniel during his exam, you ask? A happy, glowing little angel, showing off his standing-up-using-only-my-leg-muscles-and-NO-hands skills and beaming as the doctor and intern cheered for him because he walks like a boss (yes, I said it)...she wanted to see how well he walked since I said he's been walking since 9 1/2 months...guess maybe she wanted to make sure I was telling the truth, and she definitely believed me once he started walking. In the end, poor Daniel got 6 shots (he was like one big pin cushion), and cried while they were poking him, but stopped a few seconds after I picked him back up. And as for the screaming terror I call my sweet Diana? She got zero shots. Yes, none. And thank goodness, too, because I think she might have turned into the Hulk and ripped the place apart if they'd tried to give her any shots. Thankfully, we were there for only under an hour from the moment we walked in until we walked out, so it wasn't too long that I had to deal with the drama from my beautiful little drama queen. I love my kids...I swear, they teach me something every day!  Here are their stats:

Diana:
Weight:  30 lbs (37%)
Height:  36.8" (34%) - Though, this measurement is NOT accurate since she wasn't standing up straight...I know it's a couple inches off.
BMI:  15.7 (53%)
*Though this is a healthy BMI, I know her real one is lower since her height isn't accurate.

Daniel:
Weight:  19.4 lbs (7%)
Height:  29.5" (41%) - HE GOT TALLER!
Head Circ.:  18" (33%)
Height-to-Weight: 9%

So, all-in-all, the kids are doing well and growing nice and healthy. I'm so pleased!
